Blood and biohazard cleanup in a vehicle
A death, an injury or an assault in a car leaves fluids in places a home cleanup never meets: seat foam, seat belts, carpet over sound padding, and air vents.

Getting the car back
If police were involved, the vehicle may be held or towed. Ask the investigating officer when it will be released and where it is. In Providence the non-emergency number is 401-272-3121.
Tell the cleanup company where the car is. Some can work where it is parked, and some need it brought to them.
What can be saved
Hard plastic and vinyl can usually be cleaned and disinfected. Seat cushions and carpet that fluids soaked into often have to come out and be replaced.
Ask the company to tell you before it removes anything, and to list what it replaced on the invoice, so your insurer can see it.
Auto policies differ on whether they pay for this. Ring the insurer before any work begins and ask. If the car was the scene of a violent crime, ask Rhode Island's victim compensation program whether it can consider the cost.
